Birth Year Beginnings is me, Lindsay Taylor. I have been interested in birth — how it happens and what it means — since my parents welcomed me to my sister’s birth. I was eleven years old. About nine years later, I met a doula and learned about her work and passions. I knew that was my path . . . someday. Nearly fifteen years after that, a friend said something along the lines of, “You know how you’ve been talking about being a doula? Get your training and be at my birth.” I am so thankful for those words and her encouragement of my calling!
I have been married since 2004 and have three children, who were born in 2007, 2009, and 2013. I have had a hospital birth, a surprise homebirth, and a planned homebirth. I was an accredited La Leche League leader for nine years and have a special interest in breastfeeding support. I have been attending births as a doula since 2011.
In 2011, I trained with Doulas of North America (DONA). Later, I trained with Childbirth International (CBI) and am a Certified Birth Doula with CBI. I am on the Minnesota Doula Registry with the Minnesota Department of Health. As a Professional Member of Intentional Birth, I participate in monthly continuing education.
I am a Christian and, at clients’ request, come alongside those who desire Christian prayer, worship, or rituals at their births.
